The Gaze is a monthly podcast co-hosted by Aisha Jamal and Maya Bedward about race, gender and cultural representation in cinema.

Maya is a filmmaker, arts educator and community animator. She first fell in love with film at the age of nine after watching the Italian classic, ‘Cinema Paradiso.’ Maya currently lives in Toronto where she enjoys playing percussion in an all-women, Latin American folk band.

Aisha is a film programmer, filmmaker and recovering academic. She lives in Toronto where she tries to attend as many of the city’s 200 or so film festivals as possible. Outside of watching way too many films, she enjoys spending time with friends, books and good food.
